Sinker on Donovan’s ‘Season of the Witch’. Has anyone seen the gratifyingly weird Romero movie(which features the Donovan tune)?

Aye, have seen it a while ago. Rather good occult-horror-coming-to-suburbia type film; all very disconcerting in the way Romero films it. Lots of faded, bright colours, and a similar style of quick-cutting to something like Lester’s ‘Petulia’.

the third “Halloween” movie (which had nothing to do with any of the others in the series) was also called “Season Of The Witch”, and was pretty bad but is totally ripe for a remake (evil genius plots to kill the world’s children with Halloween masks implanted with a computer chip that, when activated by a television program, causes snakes, spiders, etc. to burst from the victim’s head)…

SotW also featured over the end credits of Gus Van Sant’s To Die For. Great song. Time for a Donovan reappraisal? Among some right twee rubbish he wrote some crackers: Barabajagal? Hurdy-Gurdy Man? Sunshine Superman? Ahhh

three more days to halloween! halloween! halloween! i love when Franchise Art becomes the vehicle for critiques of the evil commercialisation of leisure industry!

I haven’t seen Halloween 3 – what no Michael Myers? – but I have seen Season of the Witch ages ago; remember it as creepily suburban, slightly reminiscent of his Martin.

I presume you all gather ‘SOTW’ is showing next week on terrestrial TV [presumably C4, ASAIK]?
